2nd Working Group Meeting of Workstream 2

The 2nd Working Group Meeting of Workstream 2 was successfully concluded in Vienna last weekend.

The Working Group met for the 7th time on 18th – 20th of January in Vienna to discuss the progress of the aims of the Empowering European Families’ project. The Working Group concentrated on the drafting of a model agreement for spouses on substantive law issues. This draft agreement mainly aims to deal with matrimonial property, the maintenance of spouses as well as pension rights. The objective of the draft agreement is to promote legal foreseeability and certainty for cross-border couples. Subsequently, a similar agreement will be drafted for registered partners. In drafting these templates, the national reports on these substantive law issues, written by the national correspondents from the Member States of the EU, are important material.

The next Working Group meetings of Workstream 2 will take place from 12th- 14th March in Vienna and from the 18th-20th June in Utrecht. The latter will be combined with a Public Workshop, where the first results of this Workstream will be officially presented.
